"Mehamid Al Ghazlan Hosts the Travel Festival in Morocco
May 1, 2023 For the second consecutive day, the activities of the 18th edition of the International Travel Festival continue today in the city of Mehamid Al Ghazlan (southern Morocco). This festival embodies the rich culture of travel and their historical heritage, aiming to enhance dialogue between cultures, preserve a valuable heritage threatened with extinction, and revive their traditions and customs.
In this edition, organized over two days by the "World Travel Association," the festival celebrates the storytellers and the tales that enrich the lives of the nomadic population. It also provides an opportunity to explore the deep-rooted traditions in the lives of these desert regions. The festival, which concludes its activities tonight, hosts participants from Mali and France.
The first evening of the festival witnessed artistic performances by three storytellers who immersed the audience in the depths of stories from the past, accompanied by musical rhythms. The director of the International Travel Festival, Noureddine Boukrab, emphasized that the novelty of this current edition lies in touching an authentic component of the nomadic culture – storytelling.
The current edition of the International Travel Festival serves as an opportunity to introduce the customs and traditions of Mehamid Al Ghazlan and the neighboring regions. This is achieved through musical performances, shows, exhibitions, workshops, and seminars, in addition to organizing traditional sports competitions like "Sand Hockey" and camel racing.
A traditional Moroccan musical ensemble during the festival's opening presented a performance of 'Ahwash,' which is a form of collective Amazigh singing and dancing in Morocco (European).
